I haven't felt like doing anything lately. Been so down lately that doing anything besides sleeping is a problem. I"ll update soon when i get out of this mood.

Am Back

I never knew it would be so hard to update a blog. I've been so busy trying to plan this wedding and look for a job.
I think I will continue to talk about how expensive weddings are. While looking for churches, i found out to rent a church it cost between $600-$1500. Crazy right?  I really don't understand why it cost that much. I would use my church but its very small. We are building a new church but it wont be done by the wedding date.
While calling some places, i found a church that would not charge me anything. The church is not exactly what i have in mind but i'll rather take it and save money than spend $1500.  My fiancée and I decided to go with the church and just give them a donation for allowing us to use the church.
Everything is going great with me. Everyday i realize how much God loves me. His love is so unconditional.

Wedding dress

Hello everyone, hope you had a nice weekend.  My weekend was great, I got a lot of things done. We had a tasting with the caterer this past Saturday and it was an interesting experience. I couldn't sleep the night before because i was so nervous. I wanted some Nigerian food at the reception but as you guys know, the hall doesn't allow outside caterers.  I prayed and prayed that the caterer would allow us to bring some of our food. Anyway, the guy brought the food for tasting and my heart sank when i saw them. Don't get me wrong, some of the food were really good but the thought of not having Nigerian food at the wedding to satisfy our guest was just bothering me.  We decided to pick some of his food and tweak it a little. My sister was suppose to ask him if we could bring some Nigerian food but she didn't know how to ask. Eventually, my mom asked him and HE SAID YES.... You guys don't know how that made everyone happy. Now we can have both American and Nigerian food.
After that we decided to go and try on some wedding dresses at a bridal store i made an appointment for. I don't know how many dresses i tried on but i finally found the one. At first when i came out with the dress i didn't like it. After looking at myself in it the second time, i was in love.  My dress is so beautiful, its exactly what i wanted. very different from the other dresses I've seen and also dramatic.
Am so happy to have friends and family that love me so much to help me with this wedding. Everyday that goes by with this wedding makes me realize that dreams do come true and i have a living God. I'll keep you guys updated with any new details.

Blessing In Disguise

I am so happy!!!!!!  Prayer works guys. After the hall fiasco, I haven't been able to sleep. I actually had to use sleeping pill last night to sleep. I took all my worries and frustration to the lord and just kept praying.  I was just praying every chance I got. As always my almighty God, never departs from me. I've been through so much in the whole relationship ordeal but my heavenly father came to the rescue and gave me far more than the man of my dreams when i finally took it up to him(a story for another day). He did it again this time. I have a big vision for my wedding but with a not so high budget. The first venue we decided to go with was nice and expensive so i had to let go off my dream of having the lighting, monogram display and the chairs i wanted. I wasn't happy with that but I really didn't have a choice. God works in mysterious ways, he comes to the rescue of his children when they call upon him.
I found another hall online a couple of days ago. I called and called for 2 days and nobody picked up. I eventually called back again and made an appointment for today.  I was told that the couple who were going to use the venue on our date actually just cancelled so the date was available. I went there today, and it was magical. Words cant describe how beautiful that place is. It had the chandelier just like the Marriott, the lighting i wanted, monogram and the chairs i wanted. They don't allow the outside catering but its something we can work with. I have always wanted a vintage style venue and this was it and more. words cant describe how much i love that place. i'll have to find another church around there b/c its 45mins away from the church i fell in love with. I need to confirm with the caterer and then sign the contact. Am so happy guys. Definitely prayer works.

Church

Hi guys, hope everyone is doing great. My emotions are everywhere today due to this wedding planning. I went to check a hall today,  its not exactly what i want but i could have managed it and just spend money in decorating. Got there to talk to the agent and I found out they are booked every Saturday for the whole yr. I was so devastated and left almost crying. I know I lost the Marriott for a reason and something else will come up. But when? At this point, am ready to just get a place and just do american food, instead of the Nigerian food. Thats not really what i want but i don't care. The good thing about today is I FOUND A CHURCH, am so happy guys. Even though the aisle  in the church is not as wide as i would like, i still love it. I actually got teary when i walked inside the church, so u can imagine how happy i was. But if I don't find a hall around the church, I wount be able to use it.
i called some other halls and left messages for them so i hope someone calls me back because am really tired of looking. Pls say a prayer for me tonight so i can find something we love.

first wedding post

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I did not know wedding planning was this hard. I got engaged aug 2009 but really didn't start planning till around summer of last yr. The hall process was very tiring, took us forever to finally find a venue we liked.  The only two problem with the hall is finding a caterer with a license and paying per person. My family want a big wedding that would accommodate everyone since its a Nigerian wedding. It took us a while to decide if we want that hall or not b/c of the price. We eventually settled on 300 guest which was fine with everyone. My fiancée and I decided to go to the hall this past tuesday to sign the contract and we found out we couldn't. Apparently the hotel is being sold to the city and we cant sign a contract till everything is settled. When will it be settled?  I have no idea...Am only left with two choices now, either wait for them to settle it, or go ahead and start the process of looking again. We are planning to get married in september so we really don't have time to waste. Am so stressed and confused because i fell in love with the hotel and i don't know what to do anymore.
